How it Works

How does this program work?
For six months (April - September) before the ceremony, participants will learn from week to week, Haida Phrases & Songs, Making Drums, Weaving Headbands and Bracelets, for use in the ceremony. Then the program repeats for another six months (October - March).

Who Dances?
We will have 13 women dancers, one for each of the Kungaay or months in our lunar calendar... That is 364 days with one extra day. In Haida it was referred to as the day when a man with no lineage received a Star (or Heaven) Born Spouse - The day when anything is possible.

The men singers and dancers too: each must leave his ego at the door for this is not about him yet it is everything about him. He represents the First Man. He has a obligation as a Human Male to protect the one carrying the seeds of our present and our collective future.

When is the final ceremony?
The ceremony will be held in September 2019 and again in March 2020
Final date will be announced in August 2019 and again in February 2020.
